Preservation & Archiving Policy
Long-term preservation ensures that the research published across the Scopapers platform remains accessible and citable far into the future. This policy describes, truthfully and specifically, how the content we publish is preserved.
Persistent identifiers
Articles that are assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) receive a persistent, resolvable link so that they can be cited reliably even if the location of the content changes over time. The DOI and its associated metadata are registered with the relevant DOI registration service, which maintains the link between the identifier and the current location of the article.
Preservation through Zenodo and the CERN Data Centre
For articles whose DOIs are minted through Zenodo, the article and its metadata are deposited into Zenodo, the open repository developed and operated by CERN. Content deposited in Zenodo is stored in the CERN Data Centre and preserved under CERN's long-term data-preservation infrastructure, which is designed to keep research outputs safe and accessible for the long term. This gives DOI-minted articles a preserved copy held independently of the Scopapers platform itself.
The platform archive
In addition to preservation through Zenodo and the CERN Data Centre, Scopapers maintains its own archive of the articles it publishes, together with their metadata and the files needed to render them. Published articles, including any that are later corrected or retracted, remain part of this archive so that the scholarly record stays complete and verifiable, in line with our Corrections, Retractions & Withdrawals policy.
What we do not claim
In the interest of transparency, we describe only the preservation arrangements that are actually in place. Where the platform is not a member of a particular preservation network, we do not claim such membership. As our preservation arrangements grow, we will update this policy to reflect them accurately.
Continuity of access
If a journal ceases publication, our aim is that its published articles remain accessible through their persistent identifiers and preserved copies, so that citations continue to resolve and the record remains available to readers.
