Serving on an editorial team is a scholarly responsibility. Please read the following carefully before you apply.
1. The role
As an editor you help screen incoming submissions, assign peer reviewers, and make or recommend editorial decisions. As a peer reviewer you provide a confidential, expert, and constructive assessment of manuscripts assigned to you. Both roles are central to the integrity of the scholarly record.
2. A serious, ongoing commitment
This is part-time work that fits around your existing academic duties, but it is not occasional. Once you accept an assignment you are expected to stay engaged and responsive: acknowledge requests promptly, communicate if your circumstances change, and see your assignments through to completion. Repeatedly unresponsive members may be removed from the board.
3. Timeliness
Authors and the journal depend on you meeting agreed deadlines. If you cannot complete a review or decision on time, tell the editorial office early so the work can be reassigned. Chronic delays harm authors and the reputation of the journal.
4. Confidentiality
Manuscripts under consideration are privileged, unpublished documents. You must not share, cite, or use any part of a submission, and you must not disclose the identities of authors or fellow reviewers where anonymity applies. Destroy or delete review copies once your work is complete.
5. Conflicts of interest
Decline any assignment where you have a personal, financial, academic, or competitive conflict with the authors or the work — or where you cannot be impartial. When in doubt, disclose the potential conflict to the editorial office and let them decide.
6. Integrity and conduct
Judge every manuscript on its merits, free of bias regarding the origin, nationality, beliefs, or identity of the authors. Base your assessments on evidence and sound argument, keep your feedback professional and courteous, and report any suspected misconduct — plagiarism, data fabrication, or ethical breaches — to the editorial office.
7. Compensation
You may contribute on a non-profit (volunteer) basis for the advancement of science, or apply as a paid contributor who earns a share of publication fees. Paid arrangements are reviewed and approved by the platform, and the exact rate is set on approval. You can choose your preference on the next step.
