Objetivos y alcance

International Journal of Hispanic Literature & Society is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to advancing scholarship across Languages & Literature. We publish original research, critical reviews, and rigorous case studies that make a substantive contribution to knowledge and practice, and that meet the highest standards of methodological transparency and academic integrity.

The journal welcomes submissions from established scholars and early-career researchers alike, and actively seeks work that is international in outlook and interdisciplinary in method. We are particularly interested in studies that combine analytical depth with clarity of argument, that engage constructively with existing literature, and that draw out implications for future research, policy, or professional practice.

All accepted articles are made freely and permanently available to a global readership. By keeping the barriers to reading and reuse as low as possible, we aim to ensure that the research we publish reaches the widest possible audience and has the greatest possible impact.

Revisión por pares

Every manuscript submitted to International Journal of Hispanic Literature & Society is first assessed by the editorial office for fit with the journal's scope, originality, and adherence to the author guidelines. Manuscripts that pass this initial screening are sent for external review; those that fall outside our scope or do not meet basic quality thresholds may be declined without full review so that authors can seek a more suitable outlet without delay.

We operate a double-anonymous model: the identities of authors and reviewers are withheld from one another throughout the process. Each manuscript is evaluated by at least two independent experts selected for their subject knowledge and their record of constructive, timely assessment. Reviewers are asked to appraise the originality and significance of the work, the soundness of its methods, the strength of its evidence, and the clarity of its presentation.

On the basis of the reviews, the handling editor reaches one of four decisions: accept, minor revision, major revision, or reject. Authors receive the full, anonymized reviewer comments together with clear guidance on any revisions required. Final editorial decisions rest with the journal and are made solely on scholarly merit.

Acceso abierto

International Journal of Hispanic Literature & Society is a fully open-access journal. Every article we publish is freely available to read, download, and share from the moment of publication, with no subscription charges and no paywalls of any kind.

Articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0). Authors retain the copyright to their work, and readers are free to copy, redistribute, and build upon the material for any purpose, provided the original authors and source are properly credited.

Each article receives a permanent identifier and a stable link so that it can be cited reliably over time, and its metadata is prepared to the standards used by scholarly indexing and DOI registration services. Open access widens the reach and accelerates the impact of the research we publish, and reflects our belief that publicly relevant scholarship should be a public good.

Ética de publicación y plagio

International Journal of Hispanic Literature & Society is committed to upholding the integrity of the scholarly record and follows the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). We expect all submitted work to be original, properly attributed, and free of any form of research or publication misconduct.

Every manuscript is screened with similarity-detection software before and during review. We treat verbatim copying, close paraphrasing without attribution, self-plagiarism, data fabrication or falsification, image manipulation, and undisclosed conflicts of interest as serious breaches of publication ethics.

Where concerns are identified, the manuscript is returned to the authors for explanation or, in clear cases, declined. Allegations that arise after publication are investigated in line with COPE guidance and may result in a correction, an expression of concern, or retraction. Authorship must reflect genuine intellectual contribution, and all listed authors share responsibility for the integrity of the work.
